吉林华桥外国语学院地球村是国内唯一一个具有鲜明特色的、大型综合性语言文化实践教学基地。地球村总建筑面积为3991平方米,内设13个村:中国村、日本馆、韩国村、俄语村、德语村、法语村、意大利语村、葡萄牙语村、西班牙语村、阿拉伯语村、英语村和联合国村、非洲村。每个村都配有电化教学设备,并通过母语国的标志性建筑的微缩景观、展板、沙盘模拟及部分实物等来展示其国家的政治、经济、历史、文化、科技、教育、自然风光、民俗礼仪和饮食文化等。2011年,地球村被吉林省教育厅确定为省级实验教学示范中心;2013年,被教育部确定为国家级实验教学示范中心,被联合国教科文组织确立为“世界多元文化教育中心”、“吉林华桥外国语学院联合国教科文组织协会俱乐部”。
地球村集教学功能、实践功能、研究功能和交流功能于一体。目前为15个专业开设约30门实验课程及29个实践活动项目,同时也供中外教师与学生开展教学研讨和文化交流等。
在这里,几乎每一个文化元素都渗透着各语种国家丰富的文化内涵,学生把语言与文化学习更紧密地结合在一起,不出校门就能身临其境的领略世界各国的不同文化和独特风情,通过语言感受文化,通过文化熏陶语言,增强语言运用和跨文化交际能力。

The Global Village, covering an area of 3991 square meters, is made up of 13 national villages in total, they are Chinese Village, Japanese Village, South Korean Village, Russian-speaking Village, German-speaking Village, French-speaking Village, Italian-speaking Village, Portuguese-speaking Village, Spanish-speaking Village, Arabic-speaking Village, English-speaking Village,UN Village and African Village . Equipped with audiovisual teaching facilities, each village presents a manifestation of its national politics, economy, history, culture, technology, education, natural scenery, folk custom and etiquette and dietary culture, etc, through native miniaturized landscape, exhibition panel, sand table stimulation, and some entities. Established as an experimental teaching demonstration of provincial level by the educational department of Jilin Province in 2011, the Global Village, again in 2013, owned as corresponding reputation of national level by the Ministry of Education. Furthermore, in 2013, the Global Village was entitled as a world multicultural education center and an UNESCO Clubs Association of Jilin Huaqiao University of Foreign Languages.
Heretofore, with integral functions of teaching, practicing, researching, and communication, the Global Village, offering 29 kinds of experimental courses and 30 projects of practical activities for 15 majors, serves as a base for discussions of teaching and learning and cultural communications by teachers and students from home and abroad.
Here in the village, abundant cultural connotations of a variety of nations penetrates into nearly each cultural element. Students, within the university, enjoy a convenience of immersed appreciation of colorful cultures and exoticism of different countries through a tight combination of languages and cultural studies. Students, exposed to cultures through languages and reared in languages through cultures, would enhance in themselves the abilities of language application and intercultural communication.
